These Indoor S’mores are the perfect way to enjoy your favorite summer treat all year long! They’re made with Golden Grahams cereal coated in a mixture of melty chocolate and gooey marshmallows.

Indoor S'mores Recipe (1)

I’m pretty sure I found this recipe for Indoor S’mores on the back of a box of Golden Grahams cereal. It’s too yummy not to share. I’ve been making it for many years and it’s a hit with my family.

It’s made similar to Rice Krispie squares as you use cereal and melted marshmallows. Add in some melted chocolate and Golden Grahams and you have that sweet summer flavour of s’mores. They are no-bake and the hardest part of the recipe is melting the chocolate and marshmallows on the stove. No open fire or fire pit required. And that’s pretty easy!

This indoor s’mores recipe is my favorite way to pack all the delicious flavors of classic s’mores in a simpler, even easier dessert. They are chewy, sweet and sticky just like a s’mores would be. I cut mine into big pieces, but if you cut them smaller you’ll be able to serve more people.

This recipe is made similarly to the classic treat, Rice Krispie Squares, where everything is melted together, mixed with cereal, then sliced into bars! It could not be easier or tastier!

Ingredients

  • Golden Grahams – You will need one whole regular size box of Golden Graham cereal for this recipe.
  • Chocolate chips – I use milk chocolate chips, but feel free to use dark chocolate if that’s what you prefer.
  • Mini marshmallows – I recommend using mini marshmallows so they melt more quickly into the chocolate mixture.
  • Butter – Adds delicious flavor depth to the chocolate and marshmallow.
  • Light corn syrup – A little bit of corn syrup helps everything melt smoothly.
  • Vanilla extract– Adds a touch of sweetness and flavor depth.

Variations and Substitutions

  • If you can’t find Golden Grahams cereal, you can substitute another kind of cereal. Try Fiber One Honey Squares or even Cinnamon Toast Crunch. In a pinch, could break up graham cracker halves into small pieces and use that.
  • Substitute a piece of chocolate from plain milk chocolate bars for the chocolate chips. You could also try white chocolate baking bars instead.
  • You can use large marshmallows or marshmallow creme instead of the mini marshmallows.

Recipe Tips and Tricks

  • Keep an eye on the chocolate. As you melt the chocolate, marshmallows, butter, and corn syrup all together, be sure to keep an eye on the mixture and stir frequently. Walking away for too long can cause the mixture to burn.
  • Let them set completely. I recommend letting the bars sit at room temperature for at least a couple of hours to give them time to harden. If you slice into them too soon, you’ll end up with a big melty mess.
  • If you’re serving for a party, cut these into bite sized pieces for even easier finger food.
  • Use a buttered spoon or clean buttered fingers, to press the mixture into the baking pan.

Storage Instructions

Leftover s’mores bars will last in an airtight container at room temperature for a couple of days. Longer than that and they will start to harden!

You can also wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and store them in the freezer for up to 6 weeks. When you’re ready to serve, simply let them thaw at room temperature and dig in.

FAQ

Are Golden Grahams Like Graham Crackers?

A little! Golden Grahams are the perfect way to get the flavor and crunch of graham crackers in these s’mores bars without using actual graham crackers.
Golden Grahams cereal has a different texture, consistency and taste. They are small squares with a crunchy graham cracker taste. Graham crackers are larger and flat and more crumbly.

How Do I Set Up Indoor S’mores?

These indoor s’mores will set up as they sit. I recommend leaving them at room temperature for a couple of hours before you slice into them. This gives the chocolate and marshmallow time to solidify around the cereal for the perfect texture!
