The almost-nightly drone and missile strikes on Ukraine continue.Note that 7 of the 11 cruise missiles and all 32 of the Shahed drones were shot down. This is a huge improvement on the figures from a month ago, when not even half of the missiles and drones were shot down.Ukraine’s electrical generation capacity and its electrical grid were severely damaged by those Russian attacks. The difference now is that the American ammunition has arrived. Imagine what damage could have been avoided had the supply of ammunition never stopped; in addition to saving the electrical grid, Russia would not have been able to capture Avdiivka and made its subsequent territorial gains.https://lnkd.in/g7szWwDA#osint#ukrainewar

This is the first operational sighting of Russia’s newest self-propelled artillery platform, which only entered into Russian service in October 2023.This is the 152 mm 2S43 Malva, which uses the same (2A64) 152 mm gun as used on the Msta-S howitzer but mounts it on the body of a BAZ-6010-027 truck. This is very similar to the design of the Ukrainian Bohdana and the French CAESAR.https://t.me/TyskNIP/11376#ukrainewar#osint

This is an interesting little thermite flare being used by Ukrainian forces to burn out a TM-62 anti-vehicle mine.Thermite is a common way to dispose of explosive ordnance and offers the advantage of not being explosive itself, so it is not subject to the same levels of control.Does anyone recognize the type of flare being used? I suspect that it is manufactured in Ukraine but I don’t know that for sure.https://lnkd.in/gE3AHKNH#osint#ukrainewar#EOD

Like any war, the war between Russia and Ukraine is happening in many across many different disciplines. We rarely see reference made to the cyber war or the intelligence war.A Ukrainian hacker team called the Cyber Resistance managed to gain access to technical information on Russian UAVs. These drawings show a Supercam S350, a previously unseen Orlan model and an unknown design.https://t.me/TyskNIP/11357#osint#ukrainewar#drones

A $500 Ukrainian FPV drone destroys a $4.5 million Russian T-90M main battle tank close to Chasiv Yar, on the eastern front. The tank is 9,000 times the value of the FPV, which is a ratio that must give military planners all over the world some pause for thought.https://lnkd.in/gX8UCMQF#osint#ukrainewar

Ukraine hit a strategically important logistical link last night. In addition to the infamous Kerch bridge that brings supplies to Russian troops in Crimea and southern Ukraine, Russia makes made extensive use of two ferries that crisscross the Kerch strait. One of the ferries is for road vehicles and the other ferry is for rail cars. Both of these vessels were damaged in an overnight attack and are currently unusable. This leaves the Kerch bridge as the single functional main supply route for the south. These are photographs of the damage to the rail ferry ‘Conro Trader’ – (ignore the Telegram comment that this is the ‘Avangard’, it isn’t).At the same time but at the other side of Crimea, in Chornomorske, Ukraine launched an attack using Magura-V5 naval drones to sink two and damage two more Russian navy fast patrol boats of the KS-701 Tunets class. The Russians scrambled 32 different aircraft to try to sink the Magura-V5s, which says a lot about how seriously they take the threat and also about how seriously they lack effective counter-measures. https://lnkd.in/gyrWN8Pg#osint#ukrainewar

This is archival footage of a Russian D-20 howitzer (152 mm) firing North Korean ammunition. There have been numerous complaints about the poor quality of North Korean ammunition and this video clearly shows the gun being fired but the cartridge case not being ejected immediately after firing – as it should be.The D-20 uses separate ammunition, which means that the projectile is loaded into the breech first, before the separate propelling charge is loaded in behind it. The propelling charge is contained in a brass cartridge case and when it is fired it is supposed to explode, forcing the projectile through the barrel and the cartridge case out of the rear. This is a very common system but, on this occasion, it failed because the propellant failed to generate the required pressure to eject the cartridge case. The projectile will also have fallen well short of its target. This failure is typically due to the propellant being affected by either the ingress of water or the degradation of the propellant over time.I hope Russia got a good deal on this ‘cheap’ ammunition.https://t.me/TyskNIP/11313#osint#ukrainewar#artillery
