You wouldn't believe it! 10 months ago

Was booked into Dr Greys Hospital in Elgin for an operation on my hand, and booked into St Michaels guesthouse for 1 night, planning to drive home the following day. The hospital then told me I would have to stay overnight, so sent a message to St Michaels advising them of this and requested them to cancel my room, which I had paid in advance for (£129). I then received a short reply back refusing to return my money, stating that if everyone did that they would be empty every night. What an appalling unhelpful response. So, they kept my £129 and no doubt took a booking for the room as they had advertised it as their last room.

I am very sorry that you feel this way , I can assure you we did not sell the room , we had other cancellations due to flight cancellations. it was our last room on booking.com, had you booked direct in the first place you would have had a more flexible booking , but to cancel on the day and expect a refund is unheard of in this industry. My reply was after your message saying it was appalling that i did not refund you. Hopefully other guests shall read this and realise there was nothing bad about the house or service as you didnt check in

This property was booked for work. The room we had was the family room for 3 staff and was very clean, comfortable and spacious. Close to where we were working in Elgin. I would recommend.

St. Michael’s is a very nice guest house. The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is friendly and helpful. We were able to relax comfortably after walking around the town seeing the sights. I highly recommend this guesthouse and would definitely stay here again.

This guest house is very convenient and an easy walk to the centre of town. Beautifully appointed rooms, very friendly host with a fabulous breakfast. Would definitely stay again when we are next in the area.

Best guesthouse ever! Beautiful room, extremely clean & spacious. The host, Hazel, was lovely so accommodating & gave good guidance on sites. She cooked a cracking breakfast & served in a linen clothed dining area. A must stay if you are anywhere near Elgin!

I stayed at this property with my aunt whilst visiting nearby relatives.
First impressions were that the house was beautiful, and very comfortable and cosy. We were upgraded to a twin double room, which was so, so comfortable, spotlessly clean, and the en suite was perfect.
I just cannot sing the praises of this guest house enough.
As for the breakfast, an excellent choice, excellent value for money, and hot breakfast freshly cooked, very tasty, and lovely.

Our hotel accommodation was wonderful! The room has beautiful furniture, everything is very clean , comfortable and cozy bed, soft and pleasant bathrobes. The room has everything you need for a comfortable stay. Hazel is very caring and attentive, she is always on the connection and she is always ready to make your stay in this House very comfortable. I am grateful for such a warm welcome. Breakfast is very delicious. Very successful location of the House - near the central Street with shops and restaurants. Around the House and in the House quietly, quietly, no noise. Next time I'll stop here again!

I felt like I was staying in a mansion in a classic period drama program! Our room was beautiful with purple chaise long and other antique furniture! Very spacious room with a kettle & a capsule coffee machine. Lovely roomy marble shower room. The only think is there was no double glazing and as my husband is a light sleeper he could here the traffic passing by. Also my daughter’s side of the bed was saggy. The fireplace is not real which was a little disappointing although it was too warm to have it on. Some very impressive artwork hanging on the walls and we had a dining table right outside our room as well as cutlery & a microwave oven! Very handy as guests can bring food in or Oder take away and stops guests eating in the rooms which makes perfect sense.
On trip advisor it was stated that breakfast was ‘free’ as in included in rate but when we got there we were informed it was £10 per adult and kids up to a certain age eat free.
There is also a great garden with a seating area and bbq. Unfortunately we were only there for the one night.
Overall very happy with our stay

Stay here for an overnight stay (room 2). Room massive with 2 comfortable double beds. Hotel very clean and staff friendly. Owner sought us out to ensure everything was to our liking (which it was). Breakfast was great and catered for adults and children alike.
Would highly recommend and will probably use in a few weeks time

We had a lovely stay at this B&B. Rooms were large, clean and well equipped. I loved the extras like the bath robes and slippers. Felt safe with the Covid restrictions in place. Great breakfast. Only thing was we were at the front of the guest house and it was noisy. Would stay again but ask for a back room which over looks the garden.

We were upgraded to the King size bedroom, due to availability and bad knees. The room was enormous and the bath room was better than the Marriott where we stayed in Edinburgh. Hazel was a great cook and the breakfast was wonderful. Great location

This is just a new B&B, so there was room for a few tweeks here and there, but we had a great time here, it was very comfortable, everything you needed, tea's coffee etc, and fresh bottles of water every day, we had a luxury kingsize, so we had slippers and robes and everything you needed in a bathroom which was so modern and loved the blue mirror lighting. The only thing that was wrong with our room was the bedding, dont like nylon duvet covers and pillow slips, but the reverse was cotton, could improve on this. The breakfast was fantastic, you could even choose things like smoked salmon and at no extra cost. There were a few things wrong with my son's room which could have been avoided which let it down, when he arrived in his room it had a dirty glass and a straw on the floor also 2 days later he told us of the blood mark on his duvet cover which had been turned over to the wrong side to hide it we think, but on the whole we were treated very good and the owner and staff were great. It was also a great base for touring lots of other towns
near by, had a great time.
