Mark B Acting was very good Rated 4.5/5 Stars • Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/05/24 Full Review Melanie W This might be my favorite all time film. The actors and the story are so mesmerizing that I forget I'm watching a movie. It's about a murder and two love stories and the relationship between Irene and Benjamin tears me up, it's so beautifully portrayed. This is a movie that will stay with you long after it ends. (A-) Rated 4/5 Stars • Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/16/22 Full Review dave s When retired investigator Benjamin (Ricardo Darin) decides to write a novel inspired by a decades old rape and murder case, he unwittingly opens the door to an unimaginable chain of events. Told primarily through flashbacks, The Secret in Their Eyes effectively combines police procedural, thriller, and a touch of unrequited love, all leading to an unforgettable and unexpected climax. Granted, some of the police work and legal proceedings seem like a stretch (the suspect identified through a furtive glance in a picture, hence the title), but these faults can be forgiven in light of the otherwise smart script, strong performances, and stylish direction. Pass on the shoddy and unnecessary American remake and check out this offering from Argentine director Juan Jose Campanella.
